TROY BROSNAN CLAIMS 4TH FOR AUSTRALIA IN SOLE VALLEY
Australian Downhill Champion Troy Brosnan has made his home country proud, finishing 4th in a close battle for the 2016 title at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Val di Sole, Italy.
Brosnan was confident early on his racing on the Trentino track, fresh off of a 3rd place finish in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.
I WAS REALLY EXCITED TO RACE FOR AUSTRALIA AT THE WORLD CHAMPS THIS YEAR! THE TRACK WAS GOING TO BE CRAZY AND ONE THAT I KNEW I COULD DO VERY WELL ON.
A walk of the Sole Valley and a series of practice sessions let the Specialized Racer preserve his energy for Sunday’s Race.
TRACK WALK DAY SAW US TAKING A DIFFERENT TRACK FROM LAST YEARS WORLD CUP AND IT WAS GOING TO BE A VERY TIGHT, TECHNICAL AND ROUGH TRACK. THERE IS 4 DAYS OF PRACTICE AT WORLD CHAMPS SO I WAS TRYING TO HOLD BACK SOME OF MY SPEED THE FIRST DAY AND SAVE SOME ENERGY COME RACE DAY.
Brosnan finished at the top of the field in 7th for Saturday’s practice timed run, setting him up for one final run.
THE TIMED RUN DIDN’T COUNT TOWARDS ANYTHING BUT IT WAS A GOOD CHANCE TO SEE HOW FAST EVERYONE IS GOING AND WHERE TIME WAS MADE. I HAD A CHILLED RUN AND PLACED 7TH MADE ME VERY EXCITED TO GO FOR A MEDAL ON RACE DAY.
The Australian Champion had a well seasoned start on Race Day, and sped to the finish to claim 4th in the World Championships.
RACE DAY AT WORLD CHAMPS IS A HARD ONE, A LOT OF SELF PRESSURE TO GET THAT GOLD MEDAL AND BE THE WORLD CHAMPION! I HAD A GOOD LEAD UP TO MY START AND EVERYTHING WAS TICKING ALONG NICELY. MY WARM UP WAS GOOD AND IT WAS TIME TO RIDE MY BIKE.
Brosnan finished with a time of 3:38.361, under 5 seconds behind reigning champion Danny Hart.
MY RACE RUN WENT REALLY WELL, GOING AS FAST AS I COULD FROM TOP TO BOTTOM AND PLACING ME 4TH ON THE DAY! I AM SUPER STOKED WITH HOW I RODE AND JUST DIDN’T HAVE TO SAME SPEED AS THE OTHER 3 GUYS IN FRONT OF ME.”
Brosnan has the highest praises for his sponsors, friends, family and fans for assisting him in finishing 4th in the Championships.
A MASSIVE THANKS GOES OUT TO ALL OF MY SPONSORS, FRIENDS AND FAMILY FOR YET ANOTHER AMAZING SEASON AND MOSTLY TO ALL OF MY AWESOME FOLLOWERS WITH ME THROUGH MY LIFE AND THE JOURNEY RIDING MY BIKE!
