BROSNAN 2ND AT MONT SAINTE ANNE

Troy Brosnan has finished 2nd in the Downhill Final of the UCI MTB World Cup at Mont Sainte Anne.
Brosnan travelled across the world from his home in South Australia to Canada for the 27th edition of one of the most notoriously tough Downhill Races at Mont Sainte Anne.
After taking on a muddy and stormy practice, Brosnan took off in the qualifying and finished 6th with a time of 4m 23.335s which he was happy with.
The track had managed to dry out nicely by the time finals came around, but the rain had made the ruts and holes on course huge and the high-speed track the roughest it’s been for a long time.
“I WAS EXCITED TO GET TO MONT SAINTE ANNE, I KNEW THE TRACK WOULD BE ONE I COULD DO WELL AT AND COULD BE ON TRACK FOR A GREAT RESULT. IT WAS A REALLY HARD WEEK, I HAD A CALL THE NIGHT BEFORE PRACTICE SAYING MY GRANDAD HAD PASSED AWAY WHICH WAS TOUGH TO RIDE WITH OVER THE WEEKEND, BUT I KNEW HE WOULD BE RIGHT BEHIND ME WITH THIS RACE. PRACTICE WAS HARD IN THE WET MUD AFTER A STORM, BUT I HAD FUN AND WAS EXCITED TO JUST RIDE. THE TRACK DRIED FOR QUALIFYING AND WAS REALLY FAST WITH A LOT OF BIG HOLES, I HAD A GOOD RUN, PRETTY SMOOTH AND NOTHING CRAZY FOR 6TH.”
Brosnan had an incredible run, crossing the line with a time of 4m 13.034s, 3 seconds ahead of the remainder of the field and eventually finishing just 0.321s behind the eventual winner.
Brosnan will now prepare for the La Bresse Round in France on August 24 – 26.
“RACE DAY WAS SUNNY AND THE TRACK WAS BONE DRY WITH DUST, PRACTICE THAT MORNING I PINNED IT AND IT WAS PERFECT SO I WAS STOKED TO GO RACING. I DIDN’T MAKE ANY BIG MISTAKES AND HAD A SUPER SOLID RUN AND RODE ON THE EDGE. I HAD A LITTLE CHIP ON MY SHOULDER WITH GRANDAD WATCHING ME AND CROSSED THE LINE 3 SECONDS AHEAD OF THE REST. I ENDED UP FINISHING 2ND, ONLY 0.3 FROM THE WIN AND NOW MY CONFIDENCE IS RIGHT UP AND I’M EXCITED TO GET INTO SOME MORE RACES!”
