TROY BROSNAN WINS ROUND 1 OF NATIONALS ON CANYON DEBUT
Words by Owlpine Group
Troy Brosnan has debuted his partnerships with Canyon and SRAM in fine form, taking out Round 1 of the DHI National Series at Awaba Mountain Bike Park in New South Wales over the weekend.
Brosnan topped qualifying in the Lake Macquarie Town, where the dusty track is dubbed one of the best in the country.
I WAS PRETTY EXCITED TO RIDE THE NEW BIKE AND SEE EXACTLY WHAT IT WOULD DO, THE WEATHER WAS REALLY HOT AND ABOUT 38 DEGREES AND 80% HUMIDITY SO IT WAS PRETTY HARD TO KEEP COOL. PRACTICE WAS A LOT BETTER AND I JUST KEPT GETTING FASTER AND FASTER AND FELT GREAT FOR RACE DAY.
The win was a projection of what is to come from Brosnan in his National Series Campaign as he posted a dominant winning time of 3:30:91.
MY RACE RUN WAS AWESOME, I FELT REALLY GOOD AND KNEW THAT I HAD A REALLY GOOD RUN. IT WAS PRETTY MUCH PERFECT, ONCE I STARTED THERE WASN’T REALLY THAT MUCH PEDALLING IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF LEANING BACK AND JUST LETTING GO DOWN THE TRACK SO I WENT DOWN WITHOUT MAKING ANY MISTAKES AND ENDED UP TAKING THE WIN BY A COUPLE OF SECONDS. HOPEFULLY IT WAS THE FIRST OF MANY WINS ON THE NEW BIKE!
After debuting on his Canyon Sender and in Mavic Race Gear in Awaba, Brosnan is confident in his team and the year ahead.
IT’S A BIG CHANGE THIS YEAR FOR ME HEADING TO CANYON, SO TO HAVE THEM AND SRAM THERE AT THE RACE SUPPORTING ME AND GIVING ME EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO RIDE AND DO WELL WAS REALLY GREAT AND I’M SUPER STOKED WITH THE NEW TEAM AND THE WAY THINGS ARE ALL ROLLING.
Round 2 of the 2017 DHI National Series will be held at Thredbo, New South Wales, on Feburary 3rd, where Brosnan has a rich history, most recently winning the Cannonball MTB Festival in December.
