Troy Brosnan has claimed 1st Place at Round 4 of the 2017 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Andorra over the weekend.
Brosnan kicked off the weekend by setting the fastest time in Qualifying for the second year in a Row.
“ANDORRA HAS BEEN AN AMAZING TRACK FOR ME, I HAVE DONE REALLY WELL THERE IN THE PAST AND QUALIFIED 1ST LAST YEAR BUT THE RAIN PREVENTED US FROM GETTING THE WIN BUT I WAS REALLY KEEN TO HEAD BACK THIS YEAR. COMING INTO QUALIFYING ON FRIDAY I KNEW I WAS RIDING FAST AND COULD MAKE A GOOD TIME AND ENDED UP GETTING 1ST WHICH WAS A MASSIVE CONFIDENCE BOOSTER KNOWING I COULD DO THE SAME AS A RACE RUN.”
Following his final practice run Brosnan made the some vital suspension adjustments which proved successful throughout his winning race run as the track was fast and dry.
“I WAS A BIT NERVOUS COMING IN, I MADE A COUPLE OF CHANGES THAT I THINK DEFINTELY HELPED ME IN MY RACE RUN.”
Brosnan’s race run was a complete nail biter, after loosing time at the top of the mountain he didn’t leave anything in the tank and claimed the needed time back to win by just two hundredths of a second.
“I HAD A REALLY GOOD RACE RUN FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, IT WAS SMOOTH AND FAST AND I DID EVERYTHING I COULD TO NOT TOUCH THE BRAKES AS MUCH AS I COULD. WHEN I GOT TO THE BOTTOM I HAD WON BY .2 OF A SECOND WHICH IS SUPER TIGHT.”
The win is Brosnan’s second-ever Race Win in the category, and it moves the Australian into third overall in the Elite Men’s UCI World Cup Standings.
The Canyon Racer finished with a time of 4:06.236, and his win marks the Team’s first ever Downhill World Cup Win.
“I’M SUPER STOKED TO GET MY SECOND WIN, IT’S BEEN A WHILE SINCE MY FIRST ONE IN 2014 SO IT’S JUST A BIG RELIEF AND A SUPER HAPPY MOMENT AT THE SAME TIME. A MASSIVE THANKS TO MY SPONSORS, TEAM, FRIENDS, FAMILY AND FANS THAT SUPPORT ME AND WHO MADE THE WIN EVEN MORE ENJOYABLE.”
The next stop for the 2017 UCI Downhill World Cup is in Lenzerheide, Switzerland from July 8-9.
